Hello.
Today's review is about Myungga Bunsik, a snack spot I stopped by while visiting Sungsimdang in Daejeon.

Sungsimdang is famous as a bread mecca, but sometimes after all that bread, you just crave something spicy.
On my last trip to Daejeon, I visited Suyeon Bunsik at Jungang Market, but this time I wanted to try somewhere new,
and this is where I ended up after wandering around the market.

Honestly, the exterior is nothing special — just your typical bunsik spot you'd find in any market.
That said, the prices are very affordable.

Even the market near my house charges around 4,000 won for a serving of tteokbokki, so at 3,000 won — with sundae also at 3,000 won —
you'd be hard-pressed to find cheaper anywhere else.
Eomuk prices seem to have gone up recently.
I've seen places charging 1,300 to even 1,500 won per skewer.
This place is definitely cheaper compared to others.
The twigim is also great value — sweet potato, vegetable, egg, and gimmari are all just 700 won each.

Takeout is available, and inside there's a long corridor-style seating area.
There are also 4-person tables tucked further in, though they're not immediately visible.

We ordered one serving of tteokbokki, an egg add-on (500 won), shrimp and sweet potato twigim, one piece of eomuk, and a cola.
For 3,000 won, the tteokbokki portion is honestly quite generous.

The tteokbokki itself wasn't anything particularly special.
Rather than special, I'd describe it as a solid, no-frills classic.
Honestly, I thought it was just okay — but then the twigim blew me away.

When I bit into the shrimp and sweet potato twigim, there was a rich, nutty oil flavor that was absolutely wonderful.
The shrimp twigim wasn't the frozen kind you find everywhere — it was genuinely crispy, and when you bite in, the shrimp inside bursts
right in your mouth.
With frozen shrimp twigim, the batter and shrimp tend to fuse together into one uniform texture, right?
But here, the crispy batter and the juicy shrimp inside were distinctly separate, giving you two wonderful textures at once — it was really something.
I immediately ordered another one.
The oil also seemed fresh and clean — the color looked great and the flavor was rich and nutty.
The sweet potato twigim was delicious too.

I didn't get a great photo of the eomuk broth,
but if you look at the first photo, you can see just how deeply colored it is.
It tastes like crab.
It's a genuinely rich, crab-flavored eomuk broth.
Not the usual pale, mild broth — this one was deep and bold. I've never tasted anything quite like it anywhere else, so it was a real surprise.

The value for money and the shrimp twigim are things I genuinely want to rave about.
